Main Duties & Responsibilities:

The Supply Chain Specialist is accountable for numerous facets of supply chain (purchasing, inventory, transportation).  They will be involved in negotiating raw materials, packaging, PFR and other indirect spend items.  In conjunction with other members they will perform special projects to help optimize inventory levels and minimize transportation costs.

Duties will include:

  • Negotiate select non-contract spend items and indirect spend items.
  • Perform analysis and implement lowest cost transportation costs for bulk materials.
  • Implement and execute any new subcontracting or tolling agreements.
  • Handle pricing discrepancies with raw materials and freight.
  • Work with R&D in searching out new raw materials and obtaining samples.
  • Maintain SAP system pricing and raw material standards.
  • Place purchase orders for PFR and Tollers.
  • Transact and manage inventory movements at external locations.
  • Primary contact with plants regarding supplier issues and material constraints.
  • Perform annual supplier performance evaluations.
  • Initiate and manage the corrective action, returns and claims associated with poor quality materials.
  • Supporting and perform all tasks to maintain our ISO registration.
  • Assumes other responsibilities within the supply chain function (as needed)

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 3-5 years purchasing or logistics experience/training;
  • SAP experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Basic accounting knowledge would be considered a desired plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Must be comfortable with making decisions and have the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective team player, self motivated
  • A quick study, ability to recognize opportunities for improvement and engage in activities that will lead to improvements.
