Job Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe manufacturing operations in the Toronto Plant so the facility can achieve the KPIs and Project deliverables required. The Production Manager focuses on establishing, maintaining and continually improving within RPM’s  Manufacturing System (MS-168)  with an emphasis on operational efficiencies, yield loss minimization, and quality improvements to maximize profitable growth. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensures a Culture of Safety and CI are established and continuously improved in Tremco
  • Oversee the execution of the MS -168 systems such as Tier Meetings, PMO, Scheduling participation, Gemba Walks and team alignment to the principles of MS-168
  • Develops long term dept vision and strategy aligned to Business Initaitives
  • Knows the operational efficiencies in the departments and the issues preventing success
  • Provides opportunity for coaching and training to team members ensuring an optimum level of engagement and performance
  • Follows their leader standard work to help improve the execution of CI in critical work centers and maintain a close relationship with the operators and the difficulties experienced in their departments
  • Work with all support functions to complete Plant & Divisional level continuous improvement projects
  • Develops the budget in their area and manages activities to align the costs incurred to the plan
  • Provides recommendations on budgeting and capital expenditure planning to the Plant Manager
  • Owns all KPI’s within areas of responsibility and those that to contribute to Plant and Corporate targets
  • Takes an active lead in the recruitment process and assists in the review and improvement of this process as needed
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 10 years of production management experience is required.  Management experience in a chemical processing and lean manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and organizational ability to improve safety and attain productivity targets
  • Demonstrated communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong people skills for team building are essential to this position
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight and changing priorities and deadlines
  • Must be proficient with MS-Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six-sigma, TPS etc. considered an asset
