Job Description

The Tremco Glazing Solutions Group manufactures glazing materials for window and wall applications and is the only manufacturer that can supply the sealants, foam tapes, butyl tapes and gaskets for your total glazing system. This benefit ensures total compatibility with single-source responsibility. These products can then be tied together with Tremco's perimeter sealants, below-grade waterproofing, and roofing products to give the contractor or building owner a complete weatherproof warranty.

Ashland Rubber Extrusion Group located in Ashland, OH has an open position for a Materials Planner.

The Materials Planner effectively plans, coordinates, and purchases all raw materials and supplies to support the schedule for EnerEDGE and Extruded Rubber Products (ERP). Duties include reviewing production and associated work schedules and forecasts while conferring with the department supervisor or leader to determine the progress of work and completion dates. The Materials Planner also compiles reports on the progress of work, inventory levels, and supply problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, organize, and control activities related to the procurement and inventory control functions.
  • Uses SAP and forecasts to develop a master schedule and prepare short-range plans for supplying plant production activities.
  • Follows the progress of production, anticipates, or investigates major causes of delays, and ensures that corrective action is taken.
  • Utilize lean tools for effective planning and scheduling in manufacturing.
  • Works with the Materials Manager to revise production schedules when required due to labor or material shortages, backlogs, forecast inaccuracies or other interruptions, collaborating with management, marketing, sales, production, or engineering.
  • Monitors work processes to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to schedule. Confers with department supervisors or other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes.
  • Sets priorities for production schedules based on forecast needs, production introduction, equipment efficiency and materials supply.
  • Purchase sufficient parts and supplies and maintain safety stock levels to meet all schedule needs.
  • Maintain data integrity in SAP of Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Material Masters.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline such as Production Planning, Business, or Supply Chain or a High School equivalent and four-plus years in a material planning role.
  • One to five years related experience and/or training preferred
  • Basic understanding of ISO quality
  • APICS certification preferred
  • General knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality, and costs for use in maximizing the effective utilization of manufacturing resources.
  • Preferred experience working with vendors and/or customers
  • Proficient knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, and database skills
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Familiar with MRP systems or other planning methods to manage planning processes.
  • Familiar or experience with purchasing activities
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Organizational skills and ability to work independently under time constraints to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to compile, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, or verify information or data.
  • Establish and maintain constructive and cooperative interpersonal relationships with customer service, supervisors, sales, purchasing, and scheduling.
  • Strong attention to detail and initiative
